About Lee Middleton:

 About Reva Schick:

For nearly two decades, Lee Middleton's superb artistry captivated doll collectors nationwide. Her unexpected death on January 30, 1997, saddened her admirers, who were deeply moved by the woman who so lovingly created these precious works of art.

The granddaughter of an inventor, Lee Middleton was always resourceful in developing her own techniques for sculpture and doll production. Mainly self-taught except for a few classes at the Scottsdale, Arizona, Artist's School, Lee Middleton studied forensic sculpture and anatomy to perfect her understanding of facial structure. She always believed that her talent was God-given. As she modestly explained once, in creating sculpture, "I just start with a ball of clay and it just kind of happens."

Lee Middleton became something of an inventor herself, introducing the "porcelain look" in vinyl collectibles, and creating the first vinyl dolls to be considered truly collectible. Her "BABY SKIN" vinyl dolls are so life-like that they seem to almost breathe! Many of Lee's own designs are still in production today.

Reva Schick claims that her unique ability to create incredibly life-like newborn baby dolls is something inspired from above. "It's just something that I've got that's a God-given talent. I can't explain to anybody what the characteristics of the face are, or about the dimensions. Once I start sculpting, it's whatever expression comes out, comes out. It's like having a real baby-you don't know what it is, who it is, or what it looks like until it's done!
